Syntax Code & Craft Conference 2017 Speaker - Richard Taylor

Richard Taylor – Speaker Spotlight

At the age of fourteen, when his mother bought him a Commodore 64, the career path of Richard Taylor was set in motion.  With that Commodore 64, Richard taught himself to program using BASIC, graduated to Assembly, and built his first video game. Richard loved creating software and set his mind to do what was necessary to have a career as a software engineer.  He furthered his commitment to the software development field by becoming a community organizer, advocate, and speaker .

To date, Richard has accumulated over 25 years of solid industry experience, and still finds joy in delivering software that contributes to his client’s success. In addition to functioning as Tech Lead at Logical Advantage in Charlotte, North Carolina, Richard is the President and Founder of New Oak Software.  New Oak is a software development firm that creates software products in the area of personal financial management and business administration.  New Oak provides software development consulting, product development, and management to help clients achieve stated business objectives.

Richard’s love of software continues during his off work hours.  He spends significant time reading about the technical and business sides of software development; and shares his experience and knowledge in his local community. He is the organizer of the Charlotte Xamarin Developers, and co-organizer of the Charlotte ALT.NET user groups.

When he steps away from developing software, Richard spends time with his wife and kids enjoying sports and travel.  He also enjoys watching action/sci-fi movies, listening to R&B, and watching football.
