Syntax Conference 2017 Speaker - Saimon Sharif

Saimon Sharif – Speaker Spotlight

New York based Saimon Sharif is a front-end software engineer at Rent the Runway, where he helps build user interfaces that are used by millions of users to find the perfect outfit.

Saimon holds a degree in chemical engineering from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. Furthermore, he is an instructor at General Assembly, where he most recently taught the part-time JavaScript Development course. He enjoys the challenge of teaching complex topics to nontechnical students, and seeing their progress throughout the duration of the course.

Away from work, Saimon spends a bit too much time listening to podcasts. He starts every weekday morning with American Public Media’s Marketplace and cup of black coffee. He is a fan of quite a few shows including CodePen Radio, Freakonomics Radio, The Knowledge Project, and Reply All. Over time, Saimon has eased himself into listening at 2x speed; and indicates that the increased playback speed is a forcing function for paying attention to the content.
